Over 40 years of travel leads one to think that “I’ve been there and done that” but life continues to surprise and amaze me. Even though I may literally own the T-shirt – there is always another new place or face..
My professional education started at The Lexington (KY) Herald-Leader as a newspaper photographer. I was as green as they come but they took me on and taught me the basics. I owe a big debt to so many people that I cannot name them for fear of forgetting some.
That education continues today – I never work with a photographer that I don’t learn something new. Suffice it to say that I wouldn’t be where I am if it wasn’t for all those friends.
I retired from my job as the head of Nikon Professional Services after 39+ years. After a few years of pursuing my unattended to hobbies, having a daughter get married, and moving from NY to Chapel Hill NC. I wonder how I had time to do all that work. Retirement was great for a couple of years but then Sony called and wanted my help to get into the professional sports market. How could I resist – right up my alley and I was missing all my old photographer buddies.
What started as a 6 month consulting gig ended up lasting 5 years – I am now retired for the second time. Maybe it will stick this time.
I recently passed My FAA Part 107 test and am now a FAA licensed UAS (Drone) pilot. If anyone needs work done – feel free to contact me.
I will continue to share my travels when I think they will be of interest and can offer some educational value to those friends that follow this “sometimes” blog.
I hope you will follow along with me in my travels. I promise to share what I learn. At the very least – it will be interesting.
