A great start to 4 days at the Reno Air Race rookie school. All pilots that have not flown in the races before MUST pass proficiency tests and demonstrate skills to get certified to fly in the September races. That also applies to all photographers that have not shot here before.

Working on an active aviation ramp with turning propellers can be dangerous and the Rookie School give the safety folks a chance to make sure that every photographer knows the rules. It’s also a chance to sharpen your skills like panning with a 400 MPH aircraft.

Here are a few examples of early morning light.
